Norman Heise Obituary

Norman Carl Heise, age 73, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Norm was born on June 23, 1952 in Langenburg, Saskatchewan to Emma and Albert Heise.  He spent his whole life living in the Churchbridge area where he was well known and respected in the community.  Norm was a man deeply rooted in hard work, family, and lifelong passions. He married the love of his life, Wendy Heise (Bjarnason), on December 9, 1972, and together they built a life centered on commitment.  They were blessed with two sons, Rick, born March 24, 1973, and Rod, born August 19, 1975.  Norm was a devoted husband and father, remaining steadfastly dedicated to his family.

Norm spent 41 years working for Mosaic, beginning in 1972 when the company was known as IMC.  He started as a mine operator for seven years, advanced into a supervisor, and later retired working in dispatch.   He was deeply committed to his career and formed many lifelong friendships with coworkers, bonds that spoke to his integrity and strong work ethic.

In 1987, Norm and his family took over the family farm.   Their dedication was recognized in 2004 when they received the Century Family Farm Award.  Norm spent many years working with his cattle, farming grain, and caring for the land he loved.

Beyond work and farming, Norm had many passions that brought him great joy.  He was especially proud of his cars, particularly his 1965 Mustang and his Mercury convertible which he loved entering in car shows.  He also owned several tractors and took great pride in showcasing them in the Churchbridge parades.  Norm cherished summers riding his Harley-Davidson, especially the road trips he took alongside his son Rick, sharing miles, memories, and a bond that meant the world to him.

Some of Norm’s most treasured moments were spent with his family.  He taught all his granddaughters how to drive on the back roads, took them for rides on his old tractors, and enjoyed countless suppers in the field – simple moments that became memories lasting a lifetime.  He was near, always present for his sons and granddaughters hockey games, baseball games, figure skating competitions and dance recitals because he knew how important it was to them.

Norm is predeceased by his beloved wife Wendy Heise (Bjarnason);  son Rick Heise; parents Emma and Albert Heise; sister Betty Fenuk; Father and Mother-in-law Herb and Betty Bjarnason; and brother-in-law Ed Fenuk.

Norm is survived by his son Rod (Corrine) Heise; daughter-in-law Erin Heise; granddaughters Shelby, Sara, Hannah and Jolie Heise; brother Bert (Linda) Heise; sisters Helen (Joe) Lippai and Linda Meffen; Brother-in-laws Bob (Grace) Bjarnason, Woody (Pat) Bjarnason, and Doug (Marilyn) Bjarnason; along with many nieces and nephews.

Norm’s life was defined by dedication – to his family, his work, his land, and the things he loved most.  His legacy of hard work, pride, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
