With great sadness, the family of Lorraine Marcia Holowka announces her passing on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the age of 92.
Lorraine Marcia Holowka (nee Molnar) was born on May 20, 1931 on the Molnar Homestead near Otthon, Saskatchewan. She was the oldest child of James and Agnes (nee Bucsis) Molnar. Lorraine attended Otthon School up to grade nine then went on to complete her grade twelve at the Yorkton Collegiate. One year after graduation she married the love of her life, Marion Holowka, on August 6, 1951. They had two daughters, Susan and Karen. Lorraine was a teacher at the East Otthon School and the Otthon School for a period of time, and was a substitute teacher when needed. Marion and Lorraine ran a store at Melville beach for one year, and then Lorraine did janitorial work at the Otthon School until the mid 1960’s.
Lorraine enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and socializing. She was an excellent cook and baker, so nobody ever left the farm with an empty stomach. Throughout the years she enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, sewing, helping on the farm, and watching all the wildlife that visited the farm. She enjoyed watching her “story”, The Bold and the Beautiful, the News channels to keep up with current events, and the Game Show Network. Following Marion’s passing in 2014 she continued to live on the family farm with her cat, and best buddy, “Chumley” until she moved to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home in August 2023.
Lorraine was predeceased by her Husband Marion; Parents James and Agnes; Brothers Arnold and Elmer; Sister Esther Bowen; Brother-in-law Bill Bowen; Father and Mother-in-law John and Catherine Holowka; Sons-in-law Dave Puritch and Kelly Ryczak; her constant companion Chumley.
Lorraine leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her daughters Susan Puritch and Karen Ryczak; Grandchildren Jeff (Lisa) Puritch, Jami Puritch and Ryan Puritch; Great grandchildren Benjermin and Bailee Puritch; Brother Jerry Molnar; Sisters-in-law Beatrice Molnar & Myrna Molnar and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her unconditional love towards her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all other family and friends that had the pleasure of being a part of her life.
Donations in Lorraine’s memory can be made to Paws and Claws Animal Rescue, Rebel Cat Rescue, or the SPCA.
